Primary focus of most other dental specialties is a particular area of dental, oral or maxillofacial expertise. Pediatric Dentistry encompasses a variety of disciplines, techniques, procedures and skills that share a common basis with other specialties, but are modified and adapted to the special needs of infants, children, adolescents and those with special health care needs. Most of the instances the fear of the dentist for rendering treatment to a child patient, would rather compromise the quality of the rendered treatment. Management of the child not only includes treatment of the tooth, but also gives an emphasis on the behavioural, emotional, and attitude based management of the child. Rather than the patient, more emphasis goes to the management of the care taker. Failure to project your confidence level in management would have a tenfold deleterious effect on the child as well as the parent, regarding reading your capability, and to decide whether to hand over their child to you for treatment. The present course not only gives a detailed idea about treatment modalities in paediatric dentistry, but also an emphasis on in-chair management of the child from day one of the appointment.
